In what is being seen as an attempt to emphasise his message on social distancing,  Prime Minister Narendra Modi today chaired a cabinet meeting in which the seating arrangements were made in an `unusual’ manner.

A day after a nationwide lockdown was announced, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting of his cabinet members at his residence 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. In his address to the nation on Tuesday, the Prime minister had urged Indians to practice social distancing at all cost.

For Wednesday’s cabinet meeting,  the conventional seating arrangements were replaced by a rather unusual pattern. The Prime minister and his cabinet colleagues were seen maintaining a distance as prescribed by medical experts to prevent the spread of coronavrius.

In the photograph shared by the government, the Prime minister is seen flanked by Home minister, Amit Shah and Defence minister, Rajnath Singh but at a distance of some meters. The other cabinet members are also seen maintaining a distance from each other. Official sources said that the cabinet discussed the nationwide lockdown and measures to control the coronavirus pandemic that has already claimed 11 lives in the country.TNS
