Lagama Uri: 194 Bn BSF on Wednesday organised a free medical camp at village Lagama Uri in Baramulla district with the aim of bringing medical help and awareness besides to provide complete medical check-up to the people of the village who have very little access to basic healthcare services.

A statement issued here said that the medical camp provided free medical advice and medicines to the locals and also advised the chronic patients for specialised treatment. 194 Bn BSF being a socially cognizant organisation is organising free medical camps and other community based services since long.

The handout further said that apart from unit medical officer, senior BSF medical officers including a lady medical officer of BSF frontier head quarter Kashmir were present for medical cheek up of the patient. Lady medical officer was especially called by the unit so that gynaecological problem of ladies can be attended.

Local Sarpanch, ward members and other public representatives were informed well in advance so that information about organising a medical camp in Lagama on 28th Oct’ 2020 can reach to all people of this area as a result 245 patients  visited the medical camp and got the treatment. Free medicine worth Rs-50,000/- were also distributed among the patients, the statement informed    

Apart from medical service, locals were educated about COVID-19, its prevention and do’s & don’t regarding precaution against the pandemic. During the camp, locals were also briefed if they need subsequent treatment they can visit the unit hospital for further advice.

The response of the local population was overwhelming and they were happy that their medical well-being is taken care of despite the spread of COVID-19. On 14th Oct’ 2020 also unit had organised a free medical camp at village Mohura, Baramulla.The unit is also having a plan for organizing free medical camps at village Gingle on 03 Nov’ 2020.
