First ever, inter village volleyball tournament held at Churanda LOC Thajal-A, thrashed Churanda-A by 3-0

Churanda LoC Uri: While guns across Line of Control fall silent, roaring of guns replace with hooting sports lovers and spectators watched final match of inter village volleyball tournament held in frontier village Churanda Uri along the line of control (LOC) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. 
Amid sports fervour and enthusiasm, in final match of first of its kind volleyball tourney,Thajal-A, thrashed Churanda-A by 3-0 at its home ground located in the premises of Government Middle School Churanda. 
The tournament inwhich several teams from adjoining villages of area took part was organised by Army’s 21 Kumaon regiment of Pir Panjal Brigrade Uri. 


The four days long tournament concluded on Thursday in which large number of people and sports lovers participated.  Interestingly, people from the villages close both the side of Line of Control were enthralled and jubilant as they watched the sports event from their rooftops while few who are living very close to LOC watch the event from very close range. 
Chief guest Lt Col J D Samuel 2IC  21 Kumaon regiment who was flanked by Major Rajiv Srichandan said, ” The sports event inter volleyball tourney was organised in Churanda on LoC to bring back happiness and cheer on the faces of fear stricken people as they face burnt of cross border shelling.”
 “We organise such sports event in the village with the help of local people the area. This provided opportunity to youth of the area living close of line of control to exhibit their talent,” he added.


Village head Churanda Sarpanch Lal Din Khatana said that it is for  first time when such a tournament was held in the frontier village as people here frequently face burnt ofcross border firing and shelling.
He further said it is first time when sports lovers from several villages who are living very close to the LOC participated in the games and people including men, women and children were jubilant.
