Baramulla, February 09: To revitalise the official functioning in various departments across district Baramulla, on instructions of Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Agriculture Department today organised demonstration camps at several places in the district. The first kind of its activities were carried out today wherein senior functionaries of the agriculture department conducted field visits in their respective areas.

At Nowshera Uri, inspection of Poly Green House (PGH) was conducted by the officials and various vegetable varieties and other important plants were checked by the concerned experts. During the inspection, other agricultural centres throughout the district were also inspected in order to assess the current condition and the farmers were given valuable suggestions on the spot for improving the production and productivity of agricultural produce in the district.

Chief Agriculture Officer Baramulla, Mohammad Yousuf Shah convened a special meeting in his office chamber and took stock of the physical and financial achievements of various centrally sponsored schemes especially the physical achievement of PM-Kisan scheme at ground level. The meeting was informed that the Department of Agriculture and Department of Botany, Govt Degree College Baramulla has signed an MoU for promoting academic skills and research cooperation between the two institutions.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that such activities are being carried out on a daily basis in order to revitalize and redefine the role of various government departments so that the desired output is achieved. He emphasised that there is a need to bring vibrancy by strengthening the accountability of government functionaries.

Meanwhile, the DC also emphasised upon the concerned officials to gear up and mobilize all the available resources in view of the upcoming agricultural season.
