BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 10 :

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Mohammad Aijaz Asad today chaired a meeting of officers at famous tourist destination Gulmarg, in order to take stock of arrangements put in place for the commencement of winter games under Khelo-India sports initiative.

On the occasion, DC took a comprehensive review of various aspects pertaining to the event wherein he deliberated upon various officers for adopting a coordinated approach for making the event a grand success. He emphasized for making all necessary arrangements including accommodation, lodging and other facilities well in advance and in a hassle free manner.

DC also directed the PDD and PHE departments to provide uninterrupted power and water supply respectively so that the concerned stakeholders may not face any inconvenience. He also directed the Mechanical Division to keep men and machinery ready so as to avert any kind of exigency that may arise due to snownfall. Moreover, Municipal authorities  were directed to maintain hygiene in the surrounding.

The meeting was informed that 160 hotel rooms have been earmarked for the dignitaries and 370 rooms for athletes.

The DC also informed that  the khelo-india 2nd edition of winter games commences on 25th February and end on 2nd March,  2021. 

Meeting was attended by Director tourism Kashmir, Dr.GN Itoo, SSP Baramulla, Mr Abdul Qayoom, Managing Director JKTDC, Secretary J&K Sports Council, CEO GDA, president winter sports association, president hoteliers club  among other concerned functionaries.
