Justice Magrey Presided over as Chief Guest; Terms Social Justice Vital for Maintaining Social Stability

BARAMULLA FEBRUARY 27 :

District Legal Services Authority (DLSA)  Baramulla in collaboration with Human Aid Society  organized a day long awareness cum workshop on ‘Social Justice and Role of NGOs’ at Dak Bungalow Baramulla on Saturday.

Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey was chief guest while as Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Mohammad Aijaz Asad was the guest of honour.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Baramulla (Chairman DLSA) Sanjay Parihar, Sub-Judge Baramulla (Secretary DLSA) Faizan ul Haq Iqbal, SSP Abdul Quyoom, district and sectoral officers, representatives of several NGOs including Chairman Human Aid Society Bashir Ahmed Mir and Chairman BWJA Haji Karamat Qayoom,civil society members, prominent citizens among other functionaries attended the workshop.


On the occasion, an array of lectures were presented by the resource persons comprising of legal experts, paralegal volunteers and other eminent personalities who highlighted several aspects associated with the role of NGOs towards social justice and equality.
The chief guest, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey while  addressing the gathering applauded the participants and termed the social justice and equality vital for maintaining social stability. He said that constitution of India gives some fundamental rights and liberties and there is a need to uphold them while discharging one’s duties. He added that rights and duties go hand in hand and everyone should identify his/her role in the society.
Appreciating the role of NGOs, Justice Magrey said that these organizations need to be strengthened as they play an important role in social justice and empowerment. He further said that smooth delivery of justice will be ensured only if the govt functionaries and other stakeholders perform their duties with open conscience and with full devotion. Justice Magrey also added that social injustice is a threat to the stability and sustenance of a society and every effort should be made to ensure that justice and equality prevail.    
Justice Magrey, who is also the Executive Chairman of State Legal Services Authority highlighted the role of judiciary in carrying out welfare activities outside their domain of work as what is termed as Judicial Activism. He gave a brief appraisal of National legal Services Authority Act and said that judiciary is playing its part in this regard with zeal and vigor.
Chairman Human Aid Society Kashmir Bashir Ahmed Mir highlight the role of NGOs   ultimate coordination of NGO in Baramulla during pendemic a great success.
” All the NGOs where brought under one umbrella by former Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr. G N Itoo and we could spend one and half crore rupees on relief and containment of Covid-19 pendemic,”Mir said.


Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Ajaz Asad in his address underlined the role of NGOs towards dissemination of justice and said that district administration works in tandem with several NGOs while carrying out various welfare activities. 
He added that welfare of the society is possible only when all the stakeholders play their constructive role in their respective domains. Moreover, DC said that there is a need to widen the social base of NGOs so that their range of activities is expanded positively.
Chairman Baramulla Working Journalists Association Karamat Qayoom highlighted the significance of social justice in contemporary world and role of civil society and media in in granting justice to all individuals in the society.

Bar Association President Abdul Salam Rather said that it is over collective responsibility to work for social justice and become the ambassadors of social justice in our society.
Meanwhile, appreciation certificates were distributed among NGOs for their role in COVID-19 besides other institutions  who performed their exemplary services during the pandemic were also awarded.
Earlier, Principal District and Sessions Judge Chairman and DLSA Baramulla Sanjay Parihar presented the valedictory address wherein he welcomed the chief guest and other participants. He gave a brief introduction of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Baramulla and highlighted its role towards welfare of the society.  
Secretary DLSA Faizan ul Haq  presented the vote of thanks during which he expressed gratitude of the participants who showed their enthusiastic participation in the programme.
