Unhygienic conditions, lack of proper cleanness, no separate toilets and hand washing facilities with poor management put lives of patients and attendants in risk
There is dearth of staff and we are managing things properly but some miscreants are blowing things out of proportion: Principal GMC Dr. Ruby

Baramulla: Amid rise in Covid-19 positive cases in district Baramulla, patients admitted in COVID-19 ‘Wellness’ centre established at Indoor Sports Stadium Baramulla and their attendants allege that they are being treated like animals as unhygienic conditions, lack of proper cleanness, no separate toilets and hand washing facilities with poor management of patient care by the doctors and paramedics has put their lives into jeopardy.
“I am attending my mother here, since DC Baramulla visited the Covid-19 center no one bother to do any cleanness or sanitation of this Covid- care hospital. The risk of contracting the virus while attending a Covid patient is extremely high for al as attendants are not provided any guidelines and protective gear,” said Sheikh Shahzad.
“Attendants change like anything and relatives of patients without any proper protective gear are being allowed to enter the ward at will. There are no guidelines for the attendants, no one to brief them about the sensitivity of the issue, no one to guide them through and no one to regulate the flow of people in a ward full of COVID patients. Is this the universal COVID protocol?” asked Shahzad
Last year the arrangements were better and things were handed much better way but COVID-19 mitigation measures undertaken by the authorities this time are comparatively very poor. The pathetic condition of Covid-19 center was brought into notice of DDC Chairperson Safeena Beigh who herself made surprise visit to the center to check ground reality.
“See our condition, are we animals? Today we are infected tomorrow would be your turn. Don’t treat us like cattle as there has been no cleanness since DC Baramulla visited the Covid-19 center,” yelled an elderly woman Covid patient in the center.
Situation turned ugly when a doctor who has been appointed as Nodal Officer Covid-19 center Indoor Stadium Baramull allegedly snatched phone of a senior video journalist Sheikh Dawood who works for DDK and Aaj Tak when he was recording the grievances and ordeal of the attendants and patients.
“My phone was snatched by Dr. Yasir who is Nodal Officer of the Covid hospital in Baramulla when I was discharging my professional duty. People in the Covid hospital face grave problems and issues as there is mismanagement,” senior video journalist Sheikh Dawood said.
He added that matter was brought into the notice of Principal GMC Baramulla Principal GMC Baramulla Dr Ruby Reshi but she didn’t pay any heed.
When contacted Principal GMC Baramulla Dr Ruby Reshi, there is dearth of staff and we are managing things properly but some miscreants are blowing things out of proportion.
