Srinagar:A verification was conducted by Anti Corruption Bureau into the allegations of accumulations of assets disproportionate to known sources of income by Bashir Ahmad Mir S/o Abdul Aziz R/o Pati Vethpora Pandrethan A/P 9-Hill View Colony Rawalpora, Wanbal Rangreth, Srinagar, presently posted as AEE, JKPCC Ltd. Unit 5th Anantnag.
The suspect was found to be in possession of huge assets in the shape of immovable/ movable properties on his own name as well as his family members. The properties include one double storey palatial house at 09-Hill View Colony Rangreth, Srinagar and two Luxurious Cars. He spent huge amount on education of his children outside the state. He was also found in possession of FDRs Bank Balances/Insurance Policies etc. The accused spent huge money on purchase of gold, marriage of children and renovation of house.
The assets have been found disproportionate to his known sources of income, therefore constituting commission of offences punishable under section 5(1) (e), r/w 5(2) J&K P.C Act Svt. 2006. Accordingly, case FIR No. 05/2021 P/S ACB(SBG) was registered against Bashir Ahmad Mir S/o Abdul Aziz R/o Pati Vethpora Pandrethan at present 9-Hill View Colony Rawalpora, Wanbal Rangreth, Srinagar presently posted as AEE JKPCC Ltd Unit 5th Anantnag. Searches were also conducted in the residential house of accused AEE after obtaining proper search warrants from the Hon’ble Court.
Police on Tuesday registered a case against two consultancies for cheating some gullible youth on the pretext of providing them job in Malaysia.
“On March 26, Police Station Pattan received a complaint forwarded by Judicial Magistrate Pattan with the direction to register FIR against the owners of M/s Krishna Placement Consultancy, Gangyal Jammu run by Popinder Singh son of Jagdish Sing of Golden Lane, Gangyal Jammu and Shoaib Rahi of Tapper Pattan C/o Advisory Consultancy, Hayderbeigh Pattan,” a police official told GNS.
The complainants had alleged that the accused persons received an amount of Rs 6,40,000 (Rs. 80,000 per candidate) with the promise that they will provide them job in Malaysia.
“After joining the private companies in Malaysia, they were thrown out of the jobs after sometime saying that their visas are tourist visas and are not valid for working as promised by the consultancies,” the official said, adding, “After their return, they approached the consultancies who in turn have threatened them with dire consequences if they would disclose the matter.”
Accordingly Police Station Pattan has registered a case (FIR No 53/2021) under section 420 IPC for cheating unemployed youths of different areas of District Baramulla. “Investigation has been started in the matter,” the official added.
Security Forces Tuesday launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in a Magraypora are of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
An official told hear that a joint team of Army’s 29 RR, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police’s SOG launched a CASO in Magraypora village of Pattan belt this afternoon following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
Official sources said that security forces conducted house to house searches after sealing all the entry and exit points. “The search operation is going on in the area when this report was being filed,” they said.

The National Conference president and member parliament from central Kashmir, Dr Farooq Abdullah has tested positive for Covid-19.
His son Omar Abdullah informed this on his official Twitter handle saying that he along with his family members will be self-isolating till they get tested.
“My father has tested positive for COVID-19 & is showing some symptoms. I will be self-isolating along with other family members until we get ourselves tested. I request anyone who has come in to contact with us over the last few days to take all the mandated precautions,” Omar Tweeted.
Two hotels were partially damaged in a fire incident that broke out during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday at famous tourist resort, Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A police official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two hotels belonging to Farooq Ahmad Malik (Hotel Crown View) and Tariq Ahmad Tangha (Hotel Retreat & Resturrent) got partially damaged,
He said that fire broke out in one of the hotels and later spread to another hotel, creating panic among the locals and visitors who were camping up there.
He said that soon after the incident fire tenders reached the spot and doused the flames after hectic efforts.
The official said that there was, however, no loss of life or injuries reported—(KNO)
Another Municipal Councilor who was earlier injured in an alleged militant attack in Sopore area of north-Kashmir’s Baramulla district has succumbed to his injuries, taking the death toll in the attack to three.
Official sources told GNS that the deceased councilor identified as Shams-ud-Din Peer was admitted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar, however succumbed to his injuries on intervening Tuesday night.
Earlier two persons including a Municipal Councilor namely Reyaz Ahmad and a policeman (SPO) Shafqat Nazir Khan were killed as militants fired “indiscriminately upon the Municipal Councilors near Lone Building opposite SDH Sopore”, on Monday afternoon.
Masjids, shrines reverberate with Zikr-o-Azkar, no night-long prayers at major shrines in wake of COVID pandemic

Shab-e-Baraat, the revered night of fortune was observed with religious fervor and zeal across Jammu and Kashmir on Monday night while the night-long prayers at major shrines including Hazratbal Dargah here were suspended in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the people also decorated their houses in the evening.
However, as the major shrines and Masjids remained closed for special night prayers, the local Masjids reverberate with the ‘Zikr-o-Azkar’, mostly till 12:00 AM.
The religious clerics threw light on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and also highlighted the significance of the night.
During the special prayers, the Muslims sought Allah’s blessings and forgiveness.
Notably, the holy night is being observed during the intervening night of 14 and 15 Sha’ban— the eighth month of Islamic calendar—(KNO)
Directs Forest Deptt to develop new treks, open its rest houses/inspection huts for public use

In a mega push to promote eco-tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, the Administrative Council (AC), which met under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, approved the development of 7 new trekking routes in various wildlife protected areas by the Wildlife Department in coordination with the Tourism Department.
To sustainably promote tourism in the forest hinterland without disturbing the ecological balance in the protected areas, the Administrative Council also approved opening-up of the existing infrastructure and resources of the Forest Department including rest houses/inspection huts to tourists and wildlife enthusiasts.
The decision will allow online booking of 29 forest rest houses/inspection huts in Kashmir and Jammu divisions; under a common brand and logo from 1st May 2021.
The Department of Forest, Ecology & Environment was directed to put in place a user-friendly online portal for booking identified rest houses on a first-come, first-serve basis as per their availability and intake capacity. The Department was directed to refurbish and open another batch of 58 rest houses/huts to tourists by 1st July 2021.
These accommodations are located in different forest divisions at the quaintest places amidst pristine nature. Hitherto, they were reserved for forest officers to be utilized only during official tours in connection with conservation, protection, and management of forests and wildlife.
Meanwhile, the Administrative Council also approved development of new trekking routes in Bahu Conservation Reserve, Sudhmahadev Conservation Reserve, Thein Wildlife Conservation Reserve, Tral Wildlife Sanctuary-Dachigam National Park-Overa-Aru Wildlife Sanctuary, Thajwas Wildlife Sanctuary, Khrew Wildlife Conservation Reserve-Dachigam National Park-Khonmoh Conservation Reserve, and Khrew Wildlife Conservation Reserve.
The trekking avenues range from short day-long treks up and down mountain slopes, to long-trans-mountain traverses involving a week of trekking and camping in the wilderness. These trekking routes pass through scenic splendors, with wild fauna and flora. Now that youth across India are inclined more towards adventure activities, these treks will be developed as well sought-after destinations for trekkers.
The development of these trekking routes will provide gainful employment to the local population and tap the adventure/eco-tourism potential of the UT—(KNO)
Administrative Council (AC), which met under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, approved the roll-out of policy and guidelines for sustainable operation of houseboats in Dal and Nigeen lakes.
In a bid to preserve the marine ecosystem of both the lakes, the new policy aims to regulate the functioning of houseboats moored in Dal and Nigeen lakes by adopting the models of sustainable and responsible tourism.
The policy envisages providing a pleasant experience to tourists and sustainable source of living to stakeholders while preserving the fragile ecosystem.
Keeping in view the carrying capacities, the Tourism Department has capped the number of houseboats in both lakes at 910. Under the new policy, the houseboats are required to be registered online subject to the fulfillment of various conservation parameters; within 30 days from the date notification of the policy.
The houseboats and associated structures are required to be fitted with bio-digesters for scientific treatment of solid/liquid waste as per the approved design of the Lakes and Waterways Development Authority, besides ensuring availability of adequate fire safety equipment along with trained staff to be verified by Fire & Emergency Services Department.
Further, the policy lays down regulations for ancillary facilities like kitchen, lodging, furniture, first-aid, electricity, power back-up, sanitary fittings and shikara for navigation. It also ensures availability of minimum basic facilities to the tourists to be categorised on the basis of different classes of houseboats.
The policy includes provisions for undertaking repairs on damaged, dilapidated and abandoned houseboats, and revival of cruise boats and donga cruise.
Moreover, the policy provides for the constitution of an Advisory Committee under the chairmanship of Director Tourism Kashmir to look into the conservation of the lakes in relation to the functioning of the houseboats while recommending measures to increase the tourist influx in a sustainable manner.
Additionally, a Regulatory Committee headed by Deputy Director, Tourism will also be constituted for ensuring compliance with the norms and procedures laid down in the policy.
The policy bridges the aspirations of all stakeholders while complying with the directions of the High Court in the matter—(KNO)
Meets scores of delegations from Kulgam at Nawa e Subha, exhorts functionaries, workers to strengthen party to meet new challenges

National Conference (NC) Member of Parliament (Retd) Justice Hasnain Masoodi on Monday called upon party workers to work for the future of Jammu and Kashmir, saying the party has the responsibility of its present and future.
Masoodi as per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said this while addressing scores of delegations here at Party Headquarters Nawa-e-Subha.
The visiting delegations comprised from Kulgam town, Behibagh block, Safai Karamchari Union, including people from all walks of life. The delegations were led by Party Spokesperson, Constituency in Charge Kulgam Imran Nabi Dar. The meeting saw a huge participation of party’s block and Halqa level functionaries of Kulgam.
Masoodi in his address said the party has been living up to its commitments since 1931 by giving voice to every single citizen of Jammu and Kashmir in an inclusive manner. He said the party has given space to the weakest voices of voices in its fold saying that the collective challenge of the party is shaping our party to the current scenario to face the emerging situation at all levels.
He said the prevailing situation in J&K is a product of the measures taken under the cold hand of reason on August 5, 2019, have confirmed to our fears about its ramifications which we had cautioned against, Masoodi said adding, “NC has long been functioning as an institution comprising experience and energy and as a bridge between the past, present and the future. The need of the hour calls for increasing our efforts to improve our base on ground to face the challenges ahead. The need of the hour is to make it more inclusive, diverse, dynamic and representative.”
Referring to the development needs of people in Kashmir, he said the party has not shied away from its responsibility to raise the issues concerning people at every level. He said the MPs of NC including him, has been raising predicaments of local people in Lok Sabha and other forums as well very effectively.
Masoodi said that he in his personal capacity raised the health care issues and strengthened tertiary health care and suggested that new maternity hospitals be set up in south Kashmir areas. “I have sought maternity hospitals at Narbal and Pampore to cater requirements of north and south Kashmir. I also sought Nursing Colleges at Kulgam and Shopian,” he said.
Masoodi said that he also took exception to the import of apples in LS demanding increase in commercial processing and cold storage facilities across south Kashmir areas to prevent loss of fresh fruit due to frequent road blockades. “Not just horticulture , I also raised the failure of Saffron Mission and refuted the claims that there was bumper saffron and labeled it as a conspiracy to get the saffron from other places introduced as produced in Kashmir to the detriment of local crop,” he said
Remarking on the acceleration of work on road and tunnel projects, Masoodi said the he has also demanded concrete steps for construction of Dessa-Kapran, Simthan, Razadan, and Sadhna pass tunnels and release of 3000 crore rupees CRF to facilitate improvement in road connectivity.
He said that he has also sought proper and efficient implementation of National Education Policy 2020 on ground to make benefit reach the beneficiaries across Kashmir in particular south Kashmir.
Masoodi also stated that he also raised the appalling situation of nearly sixty one thousand consolidated and daily wagers due to pay anomalies in SR0-202 job policy and asked the GOI to bring wages of employees engaged under it at par with other government employees.
He said that, keeping in view the pro- workers and pro farmer ideology of the party he also remonstrated the government from washing its hands of its responsibility to provide succor to the horticulture in Kashmir. He said that he has also sought establishment of cold storage facilities across Kashmir in particular the apple producing regions of south and north Kashmir.
On the occasion Imran said, “The claims of the government on fast tracking of the slew of development projects in south Kashmir areas have fallen flat. The thrust areas it was made known will have IT technology, Infrastructure, Renewable energy, Education, tourism sector and manufacturing. The ground realities however give ditch to the claims of the government. Major inter district roads, and intra district arterials present a grimy tail of neglect. Power infrastructure merits special attention of government for it has seen no substantial expansion, up gradation since 2015. Likewise the government owned academic institutions are awaiting a major flip to increase their capacity to meet the demands of increasing student count and contemporary academic demands,” he said.
“In addition to that, people in various hamlets of south Kashmir particularly in Behibagh area continue to use untreated water for drinking purposes. Agricultural activities in various belts of south Kashmir have come to a grinding halt due to shortage of electricity and availability of water for irrigation. The region waits on to have more lift irrigation and water treatment plants to cater to the agricultural and household requirements of people,” he said.
On the occasion the visiting delegations brought various issues concerning them to the notice of Party MP Hassnain Masoodi. The visiting Safai KaramChari Association in particular apprised the MP about the initiative of the government to engage sweepers on contract rather than employing them. The visiting delegation said the step is aimed to snatch livelihood of scores of locals who have been effectively engaged by the administration to carry out the sanitation.
The MP gave a patient hearing to the delegation members and assured them that he would take up the issues at all appropriate forums. He said the step seems to be part of the plan to disenfranchise Kashmiri and snatch their livelihoods as was done previously by giving sand extraction contracts to the non locals.
Later the visiting delegations called on party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar who impressed upon the delegation t6o ensure that party programme reaches to one and all. On the occasion he laid emphasis on the party membership drive and asked workers to take part in it actively.
