Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday carried out a raid in Sheikh-Ul-Alam Complex in Rajbagh area of Srinagar.

Sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the ACB conducted raid in Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board office located at Sheikh-Ul-Alam Complex in Rajbagh

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has nominated Suhail Bukhari as the chief spokesperson whereas, Firdous Ahmad Tak as the party spokesperson.
The party president has also nominated Dr Harbaksh Singh, Tahir Sayeed, Najmu Saqib, Mohit Bhan, Tazeem Dar and Virender Singh as the additional spokespersons of the party.
Choudhray Pervez Ali Wafa has been nominated as the social Media coordinator for Jammu province.

QAZIGUND MARCH 18 :

An Assistant Sub Inspector of Traffic police was killed on Today at 3 AM after being hit by a unknown Truck at Bonigam crossing in Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

A senior police official told that Around 3 am tonight unknown truck hit one traffic police Man identified as SO Bonigam ASI Mohd Shafi Bhat son of Mohd Ramzan Bhat resident of Shangus, Anantnag at Bonigam crossing Qazigund, resulting on spot death of traffic the cop.

The officer further said that the truck driver fled from the scene, the traffic movement was stopped and search for identification of vehicles was started in Qazigund area.

During searches a suspected truck was found at Chimulla Qazigund and further investigation has been started.

Traffic movement which was halted temporary was restored, the officer said.

SRINAGAR MARCH 17:

Counter Intelligence Kashmir on Wednesday evening arrested two residents of Uri in North Kashmir along with one kg of heroin from a hotel in Kashmir capital Srinagar.

Police sources told that CIK conducted a surprise raid at Hotel International located near city centre Lalchowk.

“During the raid 998 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession of two persons,” sources said.

They identified the accused duo as Zameer Ahmad Mongryal son of Khursheed Ahmad Mongryal and Sajad Ahmad son of Ghulam Rasool, both residents of Uri area of Baramulla.

“Duo has been taken into custody and further investigation has been initiated.

Sopore, March 17 : Fishermen community on Wednesday stages protes against the Fisheries department Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The protesting fisherman said, authorities had failed to control the illegal poaching in wular lake thus affecting the livelihood of fishermen community badly.

They alleged that, due to the corruption, some officers are hand in glove with poachers who are using fishing nets during nights.

Meanwhile when contacted to Asst Director Fisheries Sopore Mohammad Shafi, told to “KNS’  that the department is working tirelessly to keep the vigil.

We had also framed a team who would take a strong note against the poachers illegally involving in such crime, he added.(KNS)

Srinagar, March 17:Adding another milestone to its illustrious achievements, Jammu and Kashmir Bank today bagged Best Technology Bank of the Year Award presented by India Banks’ Association (IBA) for the year 2019-20. The bank also was runner up in the category of Best Digital Financial Inclusion Initiatives Award.

The Bank’s Chairman and Managing Director R K Chhibber received the award from IBA- an association of 249 banks operating in India-in a virtual award ceremony held today.

Srinagar: Several selected candidates who had recently qualified in the Aptitude Test for the post of Assistant Information Officer post were shocked to learn that candidates having Bachelors of Arts (B.A) with Mass Communication and Video Production (MCVP) have not been considered in the eligibility criteria fixed by Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) for the posts in the notifications issued so far.

 The selected candidates told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they have done graduation with three years UGC- sponsored undergraduate program titled Mass Communication and Video Production

Graduation with mass communication and video production along with subjects political science, sociology, history, and english. As the nomenclature was lesser known to the University, our marks cards were issued as BA reecting all the subjects including Mass Communication and video production. Degree Certicates also have been titled as Bachelors in Arts (BA) which created the confusion,” said an aspirant who underwent document verification today at Zum Zum Building in Srinagar.

“Three-year course B. A with mass communication and video production is at par with graduation in journalism as the candidate studies mass communication and video production for three years in graduation and does practical work for three years. While a Diploma in Journalism is just one year course which has been considered,” he said.

The aspirants said preference should be given to mass communication and video production candidates having the subject in graduation but eligibility criteria fixed as simple graduation with history as one subject has been given preference “which is injustice”.

The aggrieved candidates said that B. A with MCVP is the vocational course for which entrances are conducted for the selection of students besides its fee structure was entirely different from normal B.A course. “The syllabus teaches all aspects of Journalism including mass communication, print media, radio, TV, photography, and advertising besides thorough insight of the communication world and to reveal the mysteries of what is behind the TV screen, the impact of the written word, production of programs, the grammar of visual design, power of publicity and much more”, the candidates said.

The candidates urged JKSSB authorities to consider the candidates having graduation ( BA) with mass communication and video production at par with Graduation in  journalism as there was no other course available in Jammu and Kashmir at that time.—(KNO)

Srinagar March 17: J&K Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone accompanied by senior party leaders today visited the residence of Muzaffar Hussain Baig, former Deputy Chief Minister and one of the most prominent leaders of J&K. They confabulated with Baig on a range of issues afflicting the people of J&K in these difficult times.

Sajad Lone on this occasion invited Mr. Baig to once again return home and be a part of the party from where he started his political career. He impressed upon Mr. Baig that the need of the hour is that people like him should share their experience, expertise, knowledge and political wisdom for the betterment of J&K.

Baig keenly participated in the confabulations and after detailed discussion expressed his pleasure in being able to be a part of the party from where he started his political career. He said that it gives him immense pleasure to be a part of the party which he joined as a youth and was groomed by Late Abdul Gani Lone sahib. Today he has the opportunity to yet again groom leaders like Mr. Sajad Lone and many others to take up leadership role in the future times to come. Mr. Baig said that in his entire public life he had causes for being happy and many causes where he was disappointed where he felt that he couldn’t do enough or didn’t have time to do enough. But he felt that apart from many problems plaguing J&K, one of the biggest problems is the quality of leadership. He said that quite often he found that the leaders didn’t have the requisite exposure or the capacity to be able to contribute at a scale and at a level that he or she is supposed to do. He expressed his great desire to contribute by grooming youngsters and building their capacity to a level where they can actually rise up to the occasion and rise up for the people of J&K.

Mr. Lone thanked Mr. Baig and reiterated that the entire party looks up to him and believes that at this juncture Mr. Baig has a great role in helping the people of J&K to navigate the turbulent and treacherous waters.

Senior party leaders including Ab Gani Vakil, Adv Bashir Ahmad Dar, Mr. Abid Ansari, Mr. Irfan Panditpori, Mr. Raja Aijaz, and Mr. Adnan Ashraf Mir were present on the occasion.

Srinagar March 17:Acting touch against the drug dealings Police have arrested two bootleggers and a drug peddler in Srinagar and Baramulla.

In Srinagar, officers during routine checking in the premises of Children Park Hazuri Bagh intercepted two persons. During checking, officers were able to recover 12 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Shergarhi where they remain in custody. Accordingly, case FIR No. 13/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Shergarhi and further investigation is in progress.

Meanwhile in Baramulla, officers while patrolling at Hardshuroo signalled a suspicious person to stop. He tried to escape from the spot but was tactfully nabbed by the officers. He has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat resident of Wagoora Keeri. During checking, officers were able to recover 1kg 50gms of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Kunzer where he remains in custody. Accordingly, case FIR number 23/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kunzer and investigation has been initiated. 

Locals have lauded the efforts of Police and appealed to continue such drives in future as well. Police has resolved to act tough against inimical elements.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.

Srinagar 17 March:The deadlock over the fixation of the mutton prices  in Kashmir ended after the mutton dealers  agreedà on the government suggested  rates.

The deadlock over Mutton crisis was resolved after almost four months stalmate between Govt and mutton dealers.
The rates were finalised in a meeting between Divisional commissioner kashmir, Director Food Supplies and Consumer affairs, Kashmir economic alliance and mutton dealers at Divisional commissioner’s office today.

The rate of mutton has been finalised at Rs 535 per kilogram without offal and Rs 490 with it, official told news agency-Kashmir News Service.

General Secretary Mutton Dealers Association Kashmir, Mehraj-ud-Din Ganie, said that though the rates are not so much feaseable for them but government assured them full support.

“Mutton deadlock marked heavy losses as the controversy over Mutton rate between Government and us remained for over four months which lead heavy losses especially the most affected ones were the minor mutton sellers which were hitted badly by financial crises”,he added.

Ganie further said that, Keeping in view the “financial constraints” of minor meat seller who are wholly and Solly depend on it and got hitted hard by financial crises during mutton deadlock period and keeping in view the upcoming holy month of Ramadan,”we decided to surrender on these rates as We have been assured full support by Adminstration”.

Earlier, on 3 November 2020, the Divisional Administration Kashmir had fixed Rs 480 per kilogram for the mutton which was a hike of Rs 40 to the last government notified rates in 2016.The dealers had rejected the revised rates which lead to the deadlock.
