I don’t think statehood will be restored to J&K till BJP Govt is there: J&K PCC chief G A Mir

Says no designated member from Congress party met EU delegation, I wonder why BJP Govt is itself internationalizing Kashmir, why delegations aren’t sent to UP which is rape capital, takes a jibe at Centre for skyrocketing petrol prices

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 18 :

J&K Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir Thursday lashed out at the BJP led government at the Centre including Union Home Minister Amit Shah for issuing ambiguous statement over restoration of statehood to J&K, stating he was of the belief that “no statehood will be restored till BJP regime is there.”

“I have keenly heard the statement of Amit Shah in the Parliament. He stated that have some patients, statehood to be restored at an appropriate time. What does that mean? That statement is totally ambiguous,” Mir told reporters in Srinagar as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). “I don’t think statehood will be restored to J&K till BJP government is at the Centre, let alone article 370 and 35 A.”

Mir slammed Centre for skyrocketing prices of petrol and diesel, stating that “if rates are around 54 dollars per barrel, petrol per liter should have been at the rate of Rs 60 in J&K, but here petrol per liter is at Rs 90, which is injustice with the people. The Government of India wants to push people of J&K economically backward further,” he said.

On the visiting European Delegation, the PCC chief said it was a “stage managed show” organized by the Centre. “The EU members didn’t meet any designated member from Congress and National Conference as projected by the media. They met those who speak BJP language and praise BJP,” he said, adding that “why EU delegations aren’t set to rape capital of India which is Uttar Pradesh, why Kashmir only. Why PM Narendera Modi is led government itself internationalizing Kashmir issue by sending foreign envoys to Kashmir.”—(KNO)

If centre won’t give back statehood to J&K, we will not ‘beg’ before them: Mehbooba Mufti in Baramulla

SNS KASHMIR

BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 18 :

The former chief minister and president People’s Democratic Party, Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said they are fighting for the restoration lost identity of Jammu and Kashmir and if the centre doesn’t want to give statehood back to J&K, they will not beg before them.

Mehbooba Mufti said this while talking to reporters on the sidelines of a workers meeting in north Kashmir’s Baramulla distrcit.

She said that when Jammu and Kashmir merged with India it merged like a crown and it was not like a common state like others.

“We want the restoration of rights and identity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and if they want to give statehood to Jammu and Kashmir or not, we will not beg before them,” she said.

She said that the agenda of PDP is the peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue and with that to restore the lost identity of Jammu and Kashmir.

She also said that they have to fight for the rights and restoration of lost identity of Jammu and Kashmir that was snatched on August 05, 2019.

“We have to fight for these rights in a peaceful manner like the farmers have been doing in various parts of the country. We have to do the same to restore our lost identity,” she said.

On being asked about property tax and domicile law, she said that all these laws have been brought to break the backbone of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The government is doing all this to make people of Jammu and Kashmir poor. This is conspiracy to bring in property tax and other taxes in Jammu and Kashmir,” she said.

She said that by bringing in these laws they want to loot Jammu and Kashmir and want to divert the attention from the real issue of Kashmir.

She also said that if the government believes that everything is fine in Jammu and Kashmir they why do they need to bring in people and delegations from across the world to assess the ground situation here.

“To make these delegations realise that everything is normal in Kashmir, they removed bunkers at various places while more than 10 lakh security personnel are still there in the valley. They are misleading even these delegations and a select few people of made to talk with these delegations,” she said.

Mehbooba also condemned the attack by unknown gunmen on a youth last night in Srinagar city. (KNS)
