25,000 people received covid19 vaccines in Bandipora, DC reviews progress

Imam, media persons, prominent citizens, traders, PRIs take lead in the vaccination drive

BANDIPORA, APRIL 06: The Covid-19 vaccination process is in full swing in Bandipora and as many as 25,000 persons have been administered the vaccine during the last two weeks in the district.

 Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad said the administration devised an action plan for the vaccination to ensure maximum coverage. He said priority has been given to senior citizens and the people above the age of 45 years.

He said the strenuous and dedicated efforts of the dedicated teams during the past two weeks are bearing fruits as more and more people are turning up to get themselves vaccinated.

He said to ensure the maximum outreach, district administration reached roped in NGO’s, religious leaders, journalists, PRI members for wider participation of the people in the vaccination process.  the administration

Imams, religious heads, media persons, Traders and other prominent citizens were also vaccinated so as to remove some misconceptions from the people’s minds. On Tuesday as many as 2000 vaccine shots were administered to people among whom prominent religious leaders and Imams received the vaccine jab.

Dr Owais said special vaccination counters have also been established at public places including at Mini-secretariat and Main Market Bandipora wherein the service providers including shopkeepers and other businessmen are being tested and vaccinated simultaneously.

The Deputy Commissioner personally monitors the vaccination process on daily basis and is in touch with the health workers to ensure successful vaccination drive

DC Bandipora appreciated the role of the civil society members including religious leaders and media persons in creating awareness about the vaccination and urged the people to get them vaccinated at earliest.

The DC Bandipora also directed the concerned health officials to gear up the process of Covid-19 sampling and vaccination in the district to ensure that the targets are achieved within the stipulated time frame. He said the vaccination counters are being set at block level to ensure maximum coverage. He also stressed for generating mass awareness among people involving PRIs about the importance of Covid-19 vaccination and motivates them for vaccination and to adhere to Covid-19 protocols that are pivotal to prevent the spread of Coronavirus infection.

Meanwhile, the DC appealed to people over the age of 45 years of the district to visit their nearest Covid-19 Vaccination Center to get them vaccinated.

After 7 days, body of missing 4-yr-old boy found in Qazigund

His body was found half-eaten by leopard

In a shocking incident, a four-year-old boy who was missing from last week was found in the forest area of Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday afternoon.

An official told the news agency— KNO that a four-year-old boy who was missing from March 31 was found in nearby forests of Chowgam Qazigund.

He said authorities of Wildlife department and Police searched for him these 7 days and partly-eaten body of the boy was recovered from the bushes in a forest near his village on today afternoon.

He identified the deceased as Nazakat Hussain Khan, son of Mohammad Rafiq Khan of Chowgam.

Station House Officer (SHO) Qazigund, Reshi Irshad confirmed to KNO the recovery of half-eaten body of boy from nearby forests.

Govt amends warrant of precedence, places DDC chairpersons equivalent to Mayors

Vice-chairpersons of DDCs placed equivalent to Div Coms and IGPs, DDC members equivalent to district magistrates

SRINAGAR,, APRIL 06 :

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday amended its warrant of precedence, placing the chairpersons of district development council equivalent to that of mayors within their respective territorial jurisdictions.

In an order, a copy of which lie with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the government placed the DDC chairpersons equivalent to mayors at serial number 19A in the amended warrant of precedence.

“In supersession of all previous orders issued on the subject, it is hereby ordered that the Warrant of Precedence forming Annexure to this Government Order shall be observed at all ceremonial functions/occasions of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” the order states.

As per the order, DDC vice-chairpersons have been placed at serial number 26 and have been placed equivalent to all Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, IGPs, Chief Conservator of Forests, Joint Secretaries to the Government of India and officers of equivalent rank and officers of the rank of Major General or equivalent rank within their respective jurisdictions

As per the order DDC members have been placed at serial number 28 and equivalent to District Magistrates, officers of the rank of Brigadiers and equivalent, major heads of department, conservator of forests and district & session Judges.

Chairpersons of Block Development Councils, Presidents of Municipal Councils and Municipalities have also been placed at serial number 28 in the warrant of precedence

“The order in this Table of Precedence is meant purely for Govt. and Ceremonial occasions. Persons in the Table of Precedence will take rank in order of the number of the articles. The entries in the same article are arranged alphabetically. Those included in the same article will take precedence inter se according to date of entry into-that article,” reads the order—(KNO)

Leopard spotted, creates panic in Jammu City

Authorities on Tuesday sounded alert in Jammu locality after a leopard was spotted in Green belt park near Gandhi Nagar, thus creating panic in the area.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a leopard was spotted in a dilapidated structure in Jammu’s green belt park near Gandhi Nagar while teams of wildlife protection have rushed to the spot.

Eyewitnesses said that teams of wildlife protection department as well as police have rushed to a location near green belt park at the site of a dilapidated structure of a Government department where a leopard was spotted.

They said the teams are carrying out an operation. Officials said that efforts are on to capture the wild animal—(KNO)

COVID-19: Saudi Arabia issues new guidelines for Umrah pilgrims

RIYADH [SAUDI ARABIA]:06 April 2021,

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced new terms and conditions for visitors and Umrah pilgrims in the wake of surging coronavirus cases.

As per the new guidelines that will come into effect from the 1st of Ramadan, only those who have received coronavirus vaccines will be allowed to enter the holy mosques, Geo News reported citing the country’s media.

The new guidelines state that only those pilgrims who have been duly inoculated with the coronavirus vaccine will be allowed to visit the Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (The Prophet’s Mosque) and Masjid al-Haram (The Great Mosque), said the Kingdom’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

The ministry clarified that any person who wishes to visit the two holy mosques for the purpose of Umrah or offering prayers must have received both the shots of the vaccine, otherwise, they will not be allowed to enter the mosques, reported Geo News.

The ministry added that even after being inoculated, all those praying in the mosques will still have to follow the Kingdom’s coronavirus protocols.
Visitors and pilgrims will be able to choose the date and time of their visit to the mosques contingent upon strict adherence to the coronavirus protocols, the ministry said.

Five injured as fire breaks out in Tarbal Nawa Kadal

At least five persons were injured after massive fire broke out in Tarbal area of Nawa Kadal in Srinagar.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that five persons sustained injuries when the fire broke out in Tarbal area.

“All the five injured persons were rushed to SMHS hospital for treatment,” they said, adding that the condition of all the injured persons is stated to be stable.

The fire broke from residential place of Mehraj ud din Mattu, which later engulfed to other nearby structure as well, which belong to Showkat Ahmad, they said.

PDP’s DDC member from Bandipora resigns from party

A district development council (DDC) member of People’s Democratic Party from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday resigned from the basic membership of the party.

Abdul Gani Wani, who had emerged victorious in the recently held DDC polls from Bonakoot constituency on PDP’s ticket, sent his resignation letter to party general secretary today.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), he sent a letter to PDP’s general secretary which “I Abdul Gani Wani want to inform you that I hereby tender resignation from the basic membership of the party. I have decided after thorough deliberations with party workers to resign from the party. It is not easy decision since I have been part of this party since long.”

“Having support and honour of my colleague of party I’ll be always thankful and surely feel upset that I’m resigning from the PDP party. I’ll be always thankful to people who have encouraged and supported me,” the letter reads—(KNO)

Youth injured after being stabbed in Habba Kadal

Unknown persons on Monday evening stabbed and injured a youth in Chinkral Mohalla area of Habba Kadal area of Srinagar district.

Sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that some unknown persons stabbed Najmu Sakib Dar, son of Abdul Rashid Dar of Chinkral Mohalla Habba Kadal Srinagar.

They added that Sakib has received injury on the back and left side of the thigh.

Meanwhile, an official said that a team of concerned police station has reached the spot and shifted the injured to SMHS Hospital for treatment, however, the attackers fled from the spot.

He said that police have taken cognizance of the matter and has started the investigation.

Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent SMHS Hospital, Dr Nazir Choudhary said that the condition of the injured is stable as of now— (KNO)

An Initiative by Indian Army for further cementing the bonds with locals, Baramulla Rashtriya Rifles today conducted an interactive session with a motto of Awaam aur Jawan, Aman hai Mukam to inlcude Prominent personalities, Youth leaders/Icon, ward members, mohalla presidents, local populace in Old Town, Baramulla that was presided over by Lt Gen (Retd) S A Hasnain,PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM,VSM(BAR) , Maj Gen Virender Vats, SM, VSM, GOC Dagger Division & Brig Amit Dhir, Commander Dagger Gunners.

The General Officer interacted with local populace of the area including Ex-Servicemen, Youth leaders, Ward members, Mohalla president, prominent local personalities of the town and reminisce the old golden memories of Kashmir, also appreciated the efforts of Army , Police & Civil Administration for thier continuous efforts in improving “The function was an initiative by Indian Army and has been appreciated by locals as it provides a platform to address the socio-economic problems.

The Army renewed its commitment of being present to help the people in every manner possible to support Kashmiriayat – Peace Harmony, secularism and unity.

The General Officer also expressed his happiness post witnessing the latest developments, efforts to establish Peace & Harmony by orchestrated & synergized efforts by Civil Administration, Army & Police. He wished that, the same spirit shall continue to prevail.
