EJAC Expressed shock and grief over the sad demise of Islamic Scholar Manzoor Ahmed Kirmani

JK Employees Joint Action committee (EJAC) on Monday expressed deep shock and grief over the sad and sudden death of noted Islamic scholar, Preacher and thinker Manzoor Ahmad Kirmani who died in a tragic road accident in Kathua.

In a condolence message from Jammu, President EJAC Mohd Rafique Rather said that the death of Manzoor Ahmad kirmani has shocked every one here because deceased was a great noble soul known for his religious and philanthropic activities and was respected by every one irrespective of religion, caste and region.and added that deceased had a vast social circle spread every where..

EJAC leadership, central body, Provincial leaders and all district presidents extend sympathies and solidarity to kirmani family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to his family to bear with the loss.
Rafique Rather said that employees fraternity of jammu and kashmir share the loss of the bereaved family and stand by them at this hour of grief.

Police: Arrested Doctor, His Associates For Terminating Minor’s Pregnancy In Ganderbal

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 22 :

Police on Monday said that a doctor and five of his “associates” were arrested for illegal termination of pregnancy of a minor girl.

“In a prompt action, on a report from Victim Liaisoning Officer, deputed with a minor rape victim in a previous case FIR No.14/2021 U/S 376 IPC that the girl (name with held) has been subjected to compulsive delivery of baby by some unknown doctor and that the infant may have been killed during such illegal procedure, Ganderbal Police filed a fresh case FIR No.24 of 2021 U/S 326, 312 IPC at Police Station Ganderbal and initiated investigation into the case,” a police official said in a statement.

“SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal constituted a team under the supervision of DySP Head Quarters Ganderbal Dr Abdul Majid including SHO Ganderbal Khurshid Ahmad Awan to nab the accused,” the official said, adding, “The victim girl revealed that her family members took her to accused Doctor’s clinic in Sopore where she was subjected to illegal termination of pregnancy.”

The accused doctor was subsequently arrested and identified as one Dr. Ghulam Nabi Bhat Son of Mohd Sultan Bhat of New Colony Sopore, the official said.

“Further leads into this gruesome crime also led to the arrest of five other persons assisting the doctor namely 01. Altaf Khan Son of Mehboob Khan, 02. Mst Ulfat Wife of Altaf Khan, 03. Mst Haseena Begum Wife of Abdul Gani Khan Resident of Dedrambagh, Ganderbal, 04. Bashir Ahmad Kumar S/O Ali Mohd Kumar R/O Baghi Mehtab and 05. Mst Afrooza Wife of Ghaznafar Ali Hajam Resident of Alamgari Bazar for providing logistic and technical assistance in carrying out illegal procedure nearly at term stage,” the official said, adding, “Investigation in the case is going on and more arrests are expected.” (GNS)

Baramulla: Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teacher’s Forum (JKRETF) organized a day long educational conference on theme ‘Role of Teacher in Present Educational Scenario’ in which people from cross section of society, teachers and educationists participated.

Chairman JKRETTF Farooq Ahmad Tantray was chief guest while as District President JKRETF Mohammad Yaqoob Bhat  was guest of honour while as retired educationists and academicians were also present in the conference.

Speakers on this occasion, Chairman JKRETTF Farooq Ahmad Tantray urged upon authorities to cancel all holidays except Sunday’s so that loss of education due Covid -19 pandemic can be compensated.

“ I request Lt. Governor and Secretary Education to cancel all holidays except Sundays so that massive loss of education to the students due to pandemic can be compensated,” said Farooq Ahmad Tantray.

District President Baramulla Mohmmad Yaqoob Bhat sought interaction of various social institutions and organizations to build a better educational scenario and urged people from cross section society to come forward for betterment of society.    

Organizer of the educational conference ZP Wagoora Mohammad Sadiq said that the aim of the conference was to create awareness and exchange of ideas regarding role of teacher in present educational scenario and challenges before a teacher.

_ARTO B’la Launches On-ground Trial for issuance of Driving Licence_

BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 22:

Assistant Regional Transport Officer Baramulla, Mubashir Jaan launches a special on-ground trial in which an array of activities are to be performed by a candidate desirious to obtain a driving licence.

While elaborating the details, the ARTO said that in this trial, various aspects which are necessary for safe driving are being tested which includes up slope and down slope vehicle movement, applying common sense, using brakes at suitable distance among other aspects. He added that the trail has been launched as per the provisions of central Motor Vehicle Act. 

Meanwhile, ARTO along with a team of officers/officials from various departments viz police, revenue, municipality etc conducted an inspection drive in Sopore in order to check whether transporters and other concerned stakeholders are following the requisite rules and regulations.

The inspection drive was conducted upon the directions of DC Baramulla Mohammad Aijaz Asad as part of his endeavours to provide smooth and hassle free public services.

During inspection, 20 vehicles were blacklisted for violating several norms and regulations as enshrined in Motor Vehicles Act. The ARTO said that such drives shall be conducted on routine basis so as to ensure smooth movement of vehicles as well and the commuters.

Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti Monday said that Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir must do his duty and that she will do her own adding that “if police plans to arrest her for her work, so be it.”

“Let IGP Kashmir do his duty. I will do my job the way I am doing. If police wants to arrest me for what I am doing, so be it,” Mehbooba told reporters at her Gupkar residence after being re-elected as the PDP chief. Interestingly, in his recent presser, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar without naming any politician had stated that some political leaders were instigating people by spreading false rumours. He had stated that police won’t hesitate in preparing a dossier and if needed, action would also be taken against such politicians.

The PDP chief said that she continue to strive hard to take forward her father late Mufti Muhammad Sayed’s mission and vision. “I want to see the end to sufferings of people that include denial of body of a slain son to his father. I won’t allow Kashmir to become a ring of war for India and Pakistan and instead Kashmir should become a bridge of peace between the two nations. Dialogue is the best way to resolve issues,” she said—(KNO)

Politicians who want early Assembly polls must cooperate with Delimitation Commission: J&K LG Manoj Sinha

Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Monday said that those who are demanding early assembly elections in the UT must cooperate with the Delimitation Commission to complete the exercise at the earliest.

“Those demanding early Assembly polls in J&K must help and cooperate with the Delimitation Commission so that the process is completed and Assembly polls are held in the UT,” he said in reply to a query that when assembly polls are going to be held in the UT, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). The LG was speaking to media men at Jammu.

He said instead of criticizing the delimitation process and staying away from the exercise, the politicians who want early assembly polls must help to end the exercise. “Once the Delimitation exercise ends in J&K, the Election Commission of India will assess the situation and accordingly announce the poll dates,” he said.

Asked about the growing incidents of militancy in Srinagar, the LG Sinha said that only two incidents have happened in the city where a module that was involved in the attack on a Dhaba owner was busted and three accused arrested. “In the second incident, two policemen were killed, who were unarmed. I condemn such acts. Let me tell you that militancy won’t be allowed to grow at any cost,” he said.

Mehbooba re-elected as PDP president

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 22 :

The former chief minister of erstwhile J&K state was on Monday re-elected as the president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Mehbooba has been the party president since 2016, after succeeding her father Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, who passed away in January 2016.

PDP spokesman said that Mehbooba was unanimously re-elected as party president for the period of three years, adding that her name was proposed by senior party leaders including Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura and Khurshid Aalam.

Sources said that PDP held elections for the post of party president today and the members of the electoral college from Kashmir & Jammu provinces voted to elect the party president in Srinagar and Jammu respectively.

Notably, the three-year term of Mehbooba as the party president ended on October 31st last year but fresh elections as per the spokesman were not held due to COVID–19 Pandemic.

For smooth conduct of the elections, Surinder Choudhary was the Returning Officer for Jammu whereas Satpal Singh Carak was Observer.

Doctor dies of cardiac arrest in Anantnag

A doctor died due to a massive cardiac arrest in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday afternoon.

Chief medical officer Anantnag, Mukhtar Ahmad Shah told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the doctor namely Aashiq Hussain from Lal Bazar area of Srinagar suffered a massive cardiac arrest at his clinic in Anantnag town.

He said that Ashiq was immediately shifted to district hospital Anantnag where doctors declared him dead on arrival—(KNO)
