KUPWARA, JANUARY 07 :

Journalist Fraternity Kupwara (JFK) strongly condemns attack on scribes by some miscreants in the Handwara area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara District.

Dr. Abdul Qayoom and Bhat Danish were attacked by some miscreants while they were delivering their professional duty.

In a press statement issued here spokesperson of the fraternity, Pirzada Shakir called the incident very unfortunate and an impediment to the freedom of the press.

He further appealed to realize the need for a free and fair press and demand a serious investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile President of the fraternity Yahya Sultan has taken up the issue with concerned DySP Syed Fariz and was assured strict action into the matter by the concerned under law.

Yahya further appeals to SP Handwara Dr. G.V Sandeep especially to initiate an investigation into the case on an urgent basis. (Agencies)
