Protesting farmer dies as tractor overturns at ITO: Police

NEW DELHI JANUARY 26 :

A protesting farmer died after his tractor overturned at Central Delhi’s ITO during the farmers’ tractor parade on Tuesday, police said.

They said the details about the deceased are yet to be gathered.

The man died as his tractor overturned at ITO where many farmers participating in the parade had reached from the Ghazipur border after taking a detour of the pre-agreed route for the march, a senior police officer said.

Police said the man was driving the tractor and he came under the vehicle as it overturned.

The farmers draped the body in the tricolour and kept it at the ITO crossing, not allowing the police to send it for post-mortem.

The farmers also lashed out at the mediapersons covering the incident.

Protesting farmers clashed with police at several places in the national capital and entered the iconic Red Fort and ITO in the heart of the city on Tuesday after hundreds of them deviated from pre-decided routes, prompting security personnel to resort to lathicharge and tear gas.

Chaotic scenes were witnessed at ITO, where hundreds of protesters could be seen chasing police personnel with sticks and ramming their tractors into the buses parked by police.(PTI)

72th R- Day 2021 Celebrated with Zeal, Enthusiasm in Baramulla

Baramulla, January 26 : The function of 72th Republic Day 2021 was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm across district Baramulla. Here the main function was celebrated in District Police Lines where the Additional District Development Comissioner Baramulla Aijaz Abdullah Saraaf unfurled the tricolor. The ADDC inspects the parade and took salute on the ocassion.

The parade was presented by the contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, Students, Home Guards, Fire and Emergency Services among other bands.

Meanwhile various colorful cultural programmes were presented at the event which evoked quite applause from the audience.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC extended his warm greetings to the people and highlighted the importance of R- Day in the history of India. He enlisted various achievements recorded by the district in different sectors and said that several developmental projects having great public significance, have been completed by the administration. He also highlighted various initiatives taken by the district administration to combat the challenge of COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, ADDC extends his applause and appreciations to all such officers/officials who worked tirelessly during COVID-19 pandemic. He termed the COVID-19 warriors as real heroes who worked day in and day out for the welfare and betterment of the society.

Underling the need of maintaining peace and communal harmony for development, the ADDC said that Baramulla district is a glaring and shining example of brotherhood where people of different faiths and communities co-exists peacefully. He also said that different welfare schemes and programmes, sponsored by central government are being implemented smoothly so that their benefit reaches at the ground level.

Later, a prize distribution ceremony was organized during which different functionaries viz officers/officials, COVID-19 warriors, best performing cultural artists, parade commanders among others were felicitated.

DIG North Kashmir, SSP,ADC, various district and sectoral officers among others were present on the occasion.

Similar functions were also organized at Sub-division and Tehsil levels where the concerned authorities unfurled the tri-color.

SEC unveils draft reservation of offices of DDC chairpersons

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 25 :

In a significant development, Jammu & Kashmir’s State Election Commission on Monday unveiled draft reservation of offices of chairpersons of district development councils (DDCs) in the Union Territory.

According to an order issued by the SEC, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Baramulla, Ganderbal, Shopian, Ramban and Kishtwar have been reserved for women, while Poonch has been reserved for women from Schedule Tribe Category.

The order further reveals that Anantnag and Rajouri have been reserved for STs while Jammu and Udhampur seats have been reserved for SCs.

According to the order, objections, if any, to the draft reservation of the offices of the chairperson shall be submitted by January 30, 2021—(KNO)

Police in Kunzer Arrest Two Persons Involved in Mobile Telephony Shop Burglary

KUNZAR TANGMARAG JANUARY 25 :

Police in Kunzer of this north-Kashmir district have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in burglery of a mobile telephony shop last week.

An official media handout by police, received by GNS, reads that ‘Police station Kunzar recieved a written complaint from one person namely Khalid Suhail Wani to the effect’ that, “During intervening night of 16/17 January 2021 some burglars had broken shutter of his shop and taken away/decamped with Mobiles of diffrent brands and cost, from his shop namely ‘Wani Sales Corporation’ Kunzar.”

On reciept of this complaint, as per the statement, an FIR Number 04/21 under sections 457, 380, 427 IPC was registered at Police station Kunzar.

“During the course of investigation two persons have been arrested and on their disclosure Mobile Phones/accessorries worth 1 lac approximately were recovered”, the statement maintains.

Identifying the accussed duo as; Ahsan Jeelani Reshi and Ishfaq Ahmad Reshi both residents of Gonipora, the statement states that both of them have been arrested.

The investigations were carried out by a team from Kunzar police station, led by Inspector Imtiyaz Ahmad and the case being supervised by SDPO Tangmarg Hilal Khaliq.(GNS)

Updated: Lieutenant Colonel dies in chopper crash in J&K’s Kathua

JAMMU, JANUARY 25 :

A helicopter crashed this evening in Lakhanpur area of Kathua district of Jammu region in which two pilots were seriously injured.

One of the pilots died in the hospital, an official told news agency KNT.

He said that a Dhruv helicopter that was on a routine patrolling crashed inside an army establishment near Basoli Morh of Lakhanpur.

Two pilots on board suffered serious injuries and were shifted to hospital for treatment, but one among them died in the hospital.

He said that helicopter damaged completely, however the pilot and the co-pilot ejected in the nick of time but unfortunately one of the pilots died in the hospital.

He identified the slain pilot as Lieutenant Colonel Rishab Sharma. The seriously injured pilot Captain Anjani Kumar Singh from 254 Army Aviation, he said is on ventilator (KNT)

Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI on Monday announced Medals of different categories on the eve of 72th Republic Day of India. Seventy-one J&K Police personnel are among the awardees of the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, Meritorious Service and Police Medal for Gallantry.This includes 52 Police Medal for Gallantry, two President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services and 17 Police Medal for Meritorious Services.

In his message, he has said that the awards show the exemplary courage and dedication shown by police personnel in different fields for the nation. 10 Jail officials awarded DG’s Prison medal

On the eve of Republic Day, 2021 Director General of Police, Prisons, J&K V. K. Singh, awarded the Director General’s Prison Medal to 10 Officers/Officials of the J&K Prisons Department in recognition of their outstanding performance.

Govt Accords Sanction for ‘Special Security Allowance’ to SSF, SSG Personnel

SRINAGAR/JAMMU, JANUARY 25 :

Lieutenant Governer-led dispensation has on Monday accorded sanction to grant of “Special Security Allowance” in favour of members of Special Security Force (SSF) and Special Security Group.

According to an Order, of which a copy lies with GNS, the Operational Staff will receive 25% of the Basic Pay (7th Pay Commission Scales) and Non-Operational Staff at 12.5% of Basic Pay (7th Pay Commission Scales).

“The Special Security Allowance shall substitute the Special Duty Allowance presently paid to Special Security Group (SSG).”

The Special Security Allowance so revised/granted shall be in addition to the Hardship Allowance already being paid to the Police Personnel at the prescribed rates, the Order states.

“This issue with the concurrence of Finance Department conveyed vide U.O. No. A/92(2010)-pf-1-338 dated 14-12-2020”, the Order underscores. (GNS)

Government Officers, Officials Stationed at Jammu Asked to Ensure Participation in ‘Beating Retreat Ceremony’

SRINAGAR/JAMMU, JANUARY 25 :

Lieutenant Governor-led dispensation has directed all the government officers and various other officials currently stationed in Jammu, to ensure their participation in ‘Beating Retreat Ceremony’ 2021, scheduled to be held on January 29 (Friday).

A Circular made public in this regard, of which a copy lies with GNS, reads that “Beating Retreat Ceremony of the Republic Day Celebrations is being held on 29th January, 2021 at 4:30 p.m at Maulana Azad Stadium, Jammu. All the officers/officials of the Government Departments stationed at Jammu are directed to attend the Beating Retreat Ceremony.”

“It is also impressed upon all the Heads of the Departments and the Chief Executives of the Public Sector Undertakings to ensure their own participation and also of the employees subordinate to them in the said function”, the Circular reads further. (GNS)
