Zero infiltration after recent Indo-Pak peace agreement: DGP Dilbagh Singh “475 weapons seized in 2020”

Srinagar, Mar 20 : DGP Dilbagh Singh today said no incident of infiltration was reported along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Union Territory (UT) after recent decesion by India and Pakistan to abide by the 2003 ceasefire agreement.
“sofar there has been zero infiltration on the LoC and no fresh ceasefire violation was reported,” he said on the sidelines of the inauguration of an under-19 T20 zonal-level cricket tournament at the Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar.

Saying that year 2020 was one of the best years in the UT. “I hope 2021 is better than the previous year,”.

He also said  475 weapons were seized in the year.
” It is more than the double we seized during 2019. We can say it is huge as compared to the weapons we have seized during many years. The weapons include pistols of different kind, Aks of different kind and M-4 U.S.-made rifles and those made in Pakistan or Afghanistan were seized last year in the Valley.”
DGP also said there was no let-up in neighbouring countries “sending weapons and drugs in large quantities and cash through drones in Kashmir border or Jammu zone border.
” We formed Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) wing in crime branch. It is doing commendable job. We are going against drug mafia in an organised way. The amount of drugs seized recently in J&K is unprecedented. “
 
Regarding the recent increase in local recruitment in militant ranks. Singh said, “The situation is not alarming. Some youth have joined militancy in Srinagar as they were radicalised by those elements who are not happy with the peace. We will deal with such issues. We will have to put our efforts together with the religious leaders and social activists. They have to play a role to ensure that the youth are kept away from the gun”.
On being asked about the missing territorial army man of Shopian, he said, ” we are investigating where he is buried and his whereabouts. Whenever we will get any detail, it will be shared with family.”

Power transformer of Zandafaran gutted five times in past three months

People allege negligence of PDD, officials say overloading is the reason

Baramulla: A power transformer in Zandfaran village of Narvaw area of Baramulla got damaged five times in three months due to which the area is reeling under darkness and people are facing are facing grace hardships due to frequent power disruption.

Inhabitants of the Zandafaran village allege that they are facing hardships as their 100 KW electric transformer gutted five times in last three month and they fail to understand what the department is doing by repeatedly repairing it.

They said that they approached the higher officials of the department so many times for a new transformer but they are not paying any attention.

 “The workshops of PDD have become den of corruption for the technicians replace transformers. Our transformer was in good condition but they provided us the dead one,” alleged a local Ajaiz Ahmad.

Executive Engineer (Exn) power development department (PDD) Baramulla Dalbir Singh confirmed that the transformer of said village was damaged five times in past three months, but it all due to overloading. “Yes the transformer of the said village damaged five times in past three months and every time we repair it at our Baramulla workshop which indicates that people are consuming electricity more than its capacity.

“There are only 45 houses depends on it and around 30 kilowatt will be their load, now we are making a plan to handle this situation and hope it will not damage in future” the official said. He said that we are not happy if people of any area will suffer but people have to make judicious use of power.

Father of senior journalist Syed Tahir-ul-Haq passed away at SKIMS Soura

Baramulla: Noted religious scholar Syed Abdul Haq Bukhari father of senior journalist and Early Times Correspondent Syed Tahir-ul-Haq of Kreeri Baramulla passed away after brief illness on Friday late evening at SKIMS Soura.

North Kashmir Journalist Association and Baramulla Working Journalist Association (BWJA)’s delegation led by Chairman Haji Karamat Qayoom  visited Kreeri to express condolence and solidarity with their senior member and senior journalist  Syed Tahir-ul-Haq and extended sympathies with the bereaved family.

Syed Abdul Haq Bukhari elder son of renowned poet Khamosh Kreeri was laid to rest in Kreeri and large number of people from cross section of society participated in the funeral prayers (Nimaz Jinaza). The deceased was paternal uncle Syed Basharat, Editor-in Chief of English Daily Newspaper Kashmir Despatch. 

Various journalists, social, political and religious organizations have expressed their condolences and prayed for eternal peace departed soul. Condolences and prayer meetings were held throughout the day in which rich tributes and homage was paid to departed soul.

Baramulla, March 20: Chief Education Officer Baramulla G M Lone today chaired a meeting with heads of various educational institutions and other concerned functionaries of education department where he took stock of overall educational scenario especially in view of new education session.

On the occasion, the CEO Baramulla flanked by Deputy Chief Education Officer Balbir Singh Raina took a detailed appraisal of various aspects associated with the smooth functioning in educational institutions wherein he emphasized for mobilising all the available resources productively. He directed to make necessary arrangements in view of new education session and follow all related SOPs and guidelines pertaining to prevention of COVID-19.

Moreover, CEO added that every effort will be made to impart qualitative education among the students. He affirmed that compensatory classes shall be provided mainly to compensate the academic loss that occurred due to subsequent knockdowns.

Deputy Chief Education Officer Balbir Singh Raina briefed the meeting about various arrangements that have been made by the department for starting the new session smoothly.

140 Fresh Covid-19 Cases, 1 Death Reported In J&K

SRINAGAR, MARCH 20 :

In worrisome trend, Jammu and Kashmir reported 140 fresh covid-19 cases, including 29 travelers, while one more person succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Saturday.

Among the fresh cases, 25 cases were from Jammu Division and 115 from Kashmir Valley, taking the total case tally to 128389, the officials told GNS.

Giving district-wise details, they said, Srinagar reported 73 cases, Baramulla 14, Budgam 18, Pulwama 2, Kupwara 3, Anantnag 3, Bandipora 0, Ganderbal 0, Kulgam 0, Shopian 2, Jammu 22, Udhampur 1, Rajouri 0, Doda 0, Kathua 0, Samba 0, Kishtwar 0, Poonch 0, Ramban 0and Reasi 0.

A number of these cases were confirmed at diagnostic laboratories of CD hospital and GMC Anantnag, they said.

The CD cases include male (65) from Hawal, male (73) from Naikbagh, five males (21, 80, 21, 18, 48) and four females (65, 46, 50, 18) from Batmaloo, male (49) from Chanapora, female (22) from Alochibagh, male (60) from Humhama, female (34) from Nowshera, female (45) from Khanyar, female (36) from Pinglena, male (19) from Drabgam, female (65) from Dalipora, female (38) from Awantipora, female (55) from Qamarwari, female (10) from B B Shah, female (18) from Gurvait, female (55) from Pahalgam, male (55) from Khayam Srg, female (80) from Budgam.

The GMC Anantnag cases include male (40) from Nipora.

Moreover 100 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals—30 from Jammu Division and 70 from Kashmir Valley. The COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir Valley, taking the fatality count to 1980—732 in Jammu and 1248 in the Valley.

So far, they said, 125218 have recovered—51353 in Kashmir and 73865 in Jammu. There are 1191 active cases—263 in Jammu and 928 in Kashmir. (GNS)

Court takes cognisance of charge sheet against Kashmiri separatist’s wife

A Delhi Court has taken cognisance of a supplementary charge sheet filed against the wife of Kashmiri separatist leader Shabir Shah in a money laundering case relating to terror funding in Jammu and Kashmir.

After taking cognisance, Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana issued summons to Bilqees Shah. The Enforcement Directorate had filed the charge sheet against Bilqees in September 2020 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Bilqees has been made accused for her role in the commission of offence of money laundering for carrying out illegal activities. Earlier, the agency had attached properties of Shabir Shah, his wife and daughters in Srinagar’s upscale Effandi Bagh.

According to ED, Shabir Shah has been found to be carrying out illicit activities along with his accomplice Mohammad Aslam Wani, who is an activist of banned militant organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

The official said that Shah was using Wani as a carrier for collecting hawala money sent by his Pakistan based outfits through hawala operators to deliver the same to him and his wife for carrying illegal activities.

During investigation, it was revealed that Shabir, without having any legitimate sources of income, had received money for carrying out separatist activities in J&K and had acquired various properties through a maze of dubious transactions, the official said.

Bilqees also received illegitimate money from Wani on various occasions, the official said. The ED case is based on the FIR and charge sheet filed by the Delhi Police Special Cell against Wani.

According to the Special Cell charge sheet, Wani was apprehended with 5 kg of explosives, one pistol with 15 live cartridges and Rs 62.96 lakh in cash.—(IANS)

The Director General of Police, J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh inaugurated Zonal Level U-19 Cricket tournament, being organised by Kashmir Zone Police at Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium Sonawar, Srinagar today. Six teams, two teams each from Central, South and North ranges of Kashmir are participating in the tournament, which has been organised under Civic Action Programme (CAP) of the J&K Police.

Speaking on the occasion the DGP congratulated the organizing committee and support staff for organizing the event. He said that organizing such events are the signs of peaceful atmosphere which is changing for good every passing day and added that he feels happy on seeing the young physically fit players taking part in different sports activities. He said the youth participating in different sports activities are playing important role in creating cheerful atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir. We should over come sorrows and sadness due to the situations which all of us have faced, rather we should work together for peace, the DGP added.

The DGP said that when terrorism was routed out of Punjab in 90’s, our neighboring country smuggled narcotic drugs to trap youth in drug related illegal activities. He said that Pakistan is still using narcotic drugs in well laid mechanism to spoil the careers and lives of our youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

The DGP said that narcotics poses big challenge and we have to fight it. He said that the youth participating here are giving a message to all, as to how get engaged in positive activities and not to fall prey to drugs. He said sports activities not only improve physical strength but also channalise positive energies in right direction.

The DGP said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is committed and working hard to tackle the challenge posed by drugs and need support from all sections of the society especially the youth to curb this menace. He said that together we can overcome any challenge and work for the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier in his welcome speech IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar gave details of the participating teams which included two teams each from South Kashmir, Central Kashmir and North Kashmir.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Shri Pandurang K. Pole, GOC 21 Sub Area Shri SPS Vishwas Rao, DIG CKR Shri Amit Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Srinagar, SSP Srinagar, Commandants of Central Kashmir Range based JK Armed/IRP battalions and other gazetted officers were present in the opening ceremony.

Pertinent to mention that these teams were selected after the tournaments were held at District and Range levels in last few months.

GoI asks J&K to take ‘necessary action’ for enforcing Covid appropriate behaviour

Government of India has asked Jammu and Kashmir administration to take necessary measures for creating awareness among people to follow COVID appropriate behaviour and take necessary action for its strict enforcement so as to fully overcome the covid-19 pandemic.

In this regard Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla has written a letter to Chief Secretary J&K, inviting attention to January 27 order by MHA, delineating guidelines for surveillance, containment and caution.

In terms of Guidelines, State/UT Governments have been mandated to take all necessary measures to promote COVID-19 appropriate behaviour and ensure wearing of face masks, hand hygiene and social distancing.

Further, these measures on COVID appropriate behavior are also included in the National Directives for COVID-19 Management, which have to be strictly followed throughout the country, the letter, copy of which lies with GNS, reads.

“After the steady decline in COVID-19 cases for about 5 months, for the last few weeks, the number of COVID cases are showing an increasing trend in several parts of the country. It has been observed that it is largely due to laxity in the observance of COVID appropriate behaviour by the people, especially in the crowded places,” Bhalla underlined in the letter.

Keeping in view the fresh surge of cases and upcoming festivals, it will be important to ensure compliance of the guidelines and to strictly enforce COVID appropriate behaviour, such as wearing of face masks, hand hygiene and social distancing among people, he said.

“I would, therefore, urge you to take necessary measures for creating awareness among people to follow COVID appropriate behaviour and simultaneously take necessary action for its strict enforcement, so as to fully overcome the pandemic,” he said, adding, Further, necessary orders/guidelines, issued by the respective Slate Governments/UT Administration in this regard, should be widely disseminated to the public and to the field functionaries for implementation.” (GNS)

The case owes its origin to a communication received in Crime Branch Jammu from Sh. A.K. Mattu, Deputy General Manager, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Department of Non-Banking Supervision, Rail Head Complex, Jammu with some pamphlets and other material, alleging that a company under the name & style Kim Future Vision Services Ltd./Kim Infrastructure and Developers Limited, situated at Vivekananda Chowk, near Ghumat, Jammu was reportedly engaged in deposits & taking activities under the garb of a Certificate of Registration issued by the RBI, Regional Office, Chandigarh in the name of Kim Investments Limited, Chandigarh, as such, the matter may be enquired discreetly.

On receipt of the complaint a preliminary enquiry was conducted in Crime Branch, Jammu in which it was found that the company – Kim Infrastructure and Developers Limited was registered with the Registrar of Companies, NCT-Delhi and Haryana at New Delhi and its objective was to raise infrastructure but had no authority to collect the deposits from the public and the company Kim Investments Ltd. was registered with the RBI as an ‘A’ category NBFC and was authorized to collect deposits only within the state of Punjab. The omissions and commissions on the part of the company prima facie, constituted offences punishable u/s 420, 406, 120-B RPC. Accordingly, instant case was registered. During investigation computers of the company have been seized and other material evidences i.e. oral, documentary and circumstantial were collected which have proved that the above accused have committed criminal breach of trust with their common and criminal intention by hatching a well knitted criminal conspiracy, as such causing wrongful loss to general public and some of their employees and thereby causing wrongful gain to themselves.
