Police files FIR against two Media outlets for spreading fake news

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 31:

Jammu and Kashmir Police have filed an FIR against two independent media outlets for spreading fake news, after authorities at Jamia Siraj-Ul-Uloom, a religious institution located in Imamsahib area of South Kashmir’s Shopian on Sunday negated the news reports of any ‘pressure’ from Army in organizing republic day function in the institution.

A purported copy of clarification issued under the letterhead of the institution, a copy of which lies with News Agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), reads, “On 26th of January, celebration of republic day took place in the vicinity of an educational institution Jamia Siraj Ul Uloom at Imamsahib Shopian. Local people, students and administration participated in the ceremony.”

“There was not any compulsion on behalf of any army personnel and police. The celebration ended with peace and pleasure,” the letter reads, “The news item appeared in news portal Kashmiriyat and Kashmir Walla regarding pressure for organizing such events and the hand of security agencies is negated as being a totally baseless allegation,” the letter added.

Earlier, the institution was making headlines after few independent media outlets had reported that the Institute was pressurized by the army to hold R-Day function.

Meanwhile, 44 RR Unit of Indian Army and the institution together have filed a case against ‘The Kashmiriyat’ and ‘The Kashmir Walla’, two independent media outlets for reporting the news without taking facts into consideration thereby maligning the image of the Army.

A police official while confirming the registration of FIR against the duo outlets said that an FIR number 06/2021 under sections 153, 505 IPC stands registered adding that further investigations pertaining to the incident are on. (KDC)

Critically ill diabetic patient airlifted from Gurez valley

BANDIPORA, JANUARY 31:

On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad, critically Ill patient was airlifted from snowbound Gurez to Bandipora for immediate medical relief.

The district administration received an SOS from the family for evacuation of 50-year-old diabetic patient Bashir Ahmad Dar of Khopray Gurez who was in conscience state owing to abnormally high Blood sugar level. The Deputy Commissioner immediately directed to arrange a special chopper to airlift the patient. Despite adverse weather conditions, the pilot managed to reach Gurez valley. “For about two hours the helicopter flew in air and couldn’t land owing to less visibility and adverse weather condition in Gurez. DC Bandipora was personally monitoring the operation and persuaded the pilot to wait and land so that a life can be saved”. Finally helicopter managed to land and the patient was rescued from the Gurez valley and was shifted to District Hospital Bandipora for treatment.

DC Bandipora appreciated the Pilot for the tireless effort in rescuing the patient and saving a life. The snow-clad Gurez valley remains cut off from the rest of the world during winters owing to heavy snowfall in the valley.

On the revelation of militant associate, police recover grenades and pistol from a shop in North Kashmir

SOPORE, JANUARY 31,

Police recovered arms and ammunition from a shop in North Kashmir’s Sopore area.

An official said that couple of days back an over ground worker of a militant outfit was arrested in Bandipora. During questioning, he revealed that arms and ammunition have been dumped in Sopore area.

“Following which a team went there and recovered arms and ammunition,” the official said.

He said 5 grenades, 20 rounds and a pistol were recovered from a shop in Sangrama area of Sopore town. (KNT)

First case of bird flu reported in Poonch

POONCH, JANUARY 31 :

The first case of Avian Flu commonly known as Bird Flu has been reported in Poonch district after samples taken from a dead crow tested positive on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Rahul Yadav told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that samples of a dead crow, taken in Mandi tehsil area have been tested positive for Avian influenza.

He, however, said that no sample of domestic poultry has been tested positive so far.

DC Poonch further informed that in the backdrop of this first case of Avian influenza, samples of all the sale points and backyard poultry shall be taken within one kilometre area of Mandi.

“Regular surveillance shall also be maintained by the Animal Husbandry Department in the area,” he said.

Pertinent to mention here that many wild birds, especially crows, have died mysteriously in Rajouri and Poonch districts in the last two weeks while their samples had been taken for testing—(KNO)

Azad asks Govt to bring restoration of J&K statehood bill in parliament

Former Chief Minister J&K and Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad today asked the Government to bring restoration of statehood in J&K bill in parliament.

“Scrapping of Article 370 was done unilaterally and state was downgraded. Prime Minister, Home Minister has promised that statehood would be restored in J&K. This is the time to bring a bill in Parliament regarding restoration of statehood in J&K,” he said during his speech in virtual meeting of All Parties.

“DDC and and Panchayat elections were held recently. Now they should have no excuses to grant statehood to J&K.

He asked the Government of India to give power to the elected representatives and said that it is not good to give unlimited power to officers in a place which has border with China and Pakistan where situation is bad there. (KNS)

Covid-19 claims 3 more lives, J&K toll 1936

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 30 :

Jammu and Kashmir reported three more deaths due to covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the fatality count to 1936.

The victims a 95-year-old man from Noorbagh Srinagar, a 70-year-old woman from Sanatnagar Srinagar and a 77-year-old man from Vill Naugran Bishnah Jammu. The deaths took the fatality count to 1936 in J&K—1215 in Valley and 721 in Jammu division.

Srinagar district with 456 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (371), Baramulla (174), Budgam (117), Kupwara (95), Pulwama (88), Anantnag (85), Doda (64), Bandipora (61), Udhampur (57), Kulgam (54), Rajouri (55), Kathua (52), Ganderbal (46), Shopian (39), Samba (39), Poonch (24), Ramban (21), Kishtwar(22), and Reasi (15).

The number of active cases stands at 1103 in the J&K—414 in Jammu and 689 in Kashmir while 121124 patients have so far recovered from the infection, the officials added. (GNS)

Rich tributes were paid to Khowja Ghulam Mustafa (Founder of fruit mandi Sopore on his death anniversary.

A meeting was convinced at Greater Now office where special prayers were held in memory of Kh Ghulam Mustafa on his death anniversary.

Kh Gh Mustafa Sahib of Watergam Rafiabad was remembered today on his death anniversary and rich tributes were paid to him across the valley and the same function was held at Greater Now News (GNN) office in Jammu.

“In the real means he was and will be considered as hero of Kashmir valley from Watergam town of Rafiabad area, he was a visionary leader who sacrificed his time, money and everything for the sake of people who are associated with Horticulture industry, said Nephew and Editor-in Chief, “Iqbal Amin”.

Throwing light on his journey he describes him as the roaring Lion of 80’s and 90’s whose mission was to make apple growers of Valley self reliant and to get them out of debt trap laid by the commission agents of Fruit Mandi Delhi is remembered all over the valley today on his death anniversary.

“Late Mustafa sahib campaigned and faced thousands of hurdles but he was determined in his mission, remembers Iqbal Amin.

In 1987 he founded Fruit mandi Sopore and MashaAllah it is now Asia’s 2nd largest fruit market, adding even after starting new market, he was presented blank cheque by those commission agents to close down the market, but instead of that It only strengthened his will and he continued his journey.

He was the man who worked day and night only to enlighten lives of poor growers of Valley.

As of now there is yearly turnover of Rs 10000 crore business, due which market always remains abuzz not only in Jammu and Kashmir but in other parts of the country and it is all because of this pious hero.

Half of the population in Kashmir is associated with Horticulture and fruit mandi Sopore is itself an example of his work that people shouldn’t forget, but that mandi should be developed more like other fruit markets of the world.

Handwara Police seized huge consignment of illegal Solar lights in Nichama Rajwar

In a major success Handwara Police on specific input laid a trap and caught A man red Handed while smuggling Govt solar lights in black market.

A police team headed by SHO Handwara raided in the house of Gh Ahmad Mir Son of Habibullah Mir resident of Nichama Rajwar after getting an input that he has dumped Govt solar lights illegally in his home.

Reports said after checking the said house, huge Quantity of Govt solar lights were found with out proper documents. “which were later seized by Police”, a police official told GNS.

Meanwhile, a case FIR No. 18/2021 was lodged at Police station Handwara and further investigation has been started.(GNS)
