J&K: SHO Attacked By Bovines Smugglers, Hospitalized

JAMMU FEBRUARY 15 :

Station House Officer Police Station Bishnah was injured in attack by bovines smugglers and has been hospitalised as on specific information about cattle smuggling, a team from Police Station Bishnah led by SHO Inspector Tahir Yousuf rushed to Lalyana area.

The police team was attacked by bovines’ smugglers, in which SHO received head injuries & was shifted to SDH Bishnah and later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for advanced treatment.

A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Bishnah and hunt has been launched to nab the cattle smugglers, who managed to escape from the spot by taking benefit of the darkness.

Police files FIR after some vehicles looted along highway, govt official identified among culprits

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 14 :

Police on Sunday filed a case against under sections of robbery, criminal intimidation and wrong restraint after some persons including a government official allegedly took away nearly Rs 45000 from drivers at Lethpora along Jammu-Srinagar highway in Pulwama district.

A senior police officer told GNS that on February 13 one person of Lethpora approached police station Awantipora with a written complaint, stating therein that his driver of dumper vehicle was stopped by some persons who were boarding in a scorpio.

These persons stopped few more vehicles including one more dumper, he said.

“It is also stated that they beat up driver of the complainant and one more driver. Moreover, they forcefully took away money worth Rs 33 thousand cash and 12 thousand through transfer to the account from the complainant, restrained them and threatened them etc,” he said.

One of these persons was identified as an employee of the government ( District Mining Officer Kulgam), he said.

“On receipt of this application, a case FIR No 21/21 u/s 341 (wrong restraint), 392 (punishment for robbery), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) IPC stands registered and investigation taken up,” the officer added. (GNS)

Movement of protected persons, VIPs discouraged in view of ‘adverse inputs’ on 2nd anniversary of Pulwama attack: Police

The Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday said that the movement of protected persons and VIPs has been restricted today in view of the adverse inputs on the 2nd anniversary of Pulwama attack.

According to news agency KNS, Srinagar police in a Tweet said that the movement of protected persons and VIPs has been discouraged in view of the adverse inputs on the 2nd anniversary of Lethpora attack after formers chief minister and National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah claimed that he, his father and family have been put under house arrest.  

“Today is 2nd Anniversary of dreaded Lethpora Terror incident. There shall be NO ROP on ground. Due to adverse inputs, movement of VIPs/Protected Persons has been discouraged and all concerned were informed in advance NOT to plan a tour today,” Srinagar police Tweeted.

Pertinently, on 14 February at least 40 CRPF Jawans were killed in a dreaded attack on CRPF convoy on the national highway in Lethpora area of Pulwama. 

Earlier, Omar Abdullah in a Tweet had claimed that he, his father and family were locked up inside their homes without any information. (KNS)

Budgam Police arrests Hardcore Drug Peddler; 310 KGS of Fukki Powder Recovered.

Police Station Chadoora received a specific input about drug dealing in a residential house belonging to Abdul Qayoom S/o Satar Bhat R/o Qazipora,Chadoora.

Acting on this information, a Police Party from PS Chadoora raided the house and during search of the residential house, police party was able to recover 310Kgs of Fukki Powder.

A case FIR No. 05/2021 stands registered in PS Chadoora and investigation initiated .

During the course of investigation, the accused person, identified as Abdul Qayoom S/o Satar Bhat R/o Qazipora,Chadoora was arrested. Further investigation in the matter is going on.

58-year-old among 2 persons die of covid-19, 73 fresh cases reported in J&K

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 14 :

Thirty-four travelers were among73 fresh covid-19 cases reported in Jammu and Kashmir while two more persons succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Sunday.

Among the fresh cases, 15 were reported from Jammu Division and 58 from Kashmir Valley, taking the total case tally to 125341, the officials told GNS.

Providing district-wise breakup, they said, Srinagar reported 37 cases, Baramulla 2, Budgam 4, Pulwama 5, Kupwara 0, Anantnag 7, Bandipora 0, Ganderbal 1, Kulgam 0, Shopian 1, Jammu 14, Udhampur 0, Rajouri 0, Doda 0, Kathua 0, Samba 0, Kishtwar 0, Poonch 1, Ramban 0 and Reasi 0.

Regarding the fresh deaths, they said, one each was reported from Jammu Division and Kashmir Valley respectively. Regarding the death from Valley, they said, the victim was a 58-year-old man from Ellahibagh Soura Srinagar while the one from Jammu belonged to the winter capital of the J&K.

Moreover, they said, 65 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals—16 from Jammu Division and 49 from Kashmir. (GNS)

‘Major tragedy averted in Jammu today after recovery of 6.5 KG IED

The Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two chief commanders of two separate militant outfits including The Resistance Front (TRF) and Lashkar-e-Mustafa in the past few days across the UT.

As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), addressing a press conference in Jammu, the director general of police, Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh said that police carried out two major successful operations and arrested two chief commanders of TRF and Lashkar-e Mustafa.

He said that to give a local name to a militant outfit, Lashkar-e-Toiba created an outfit by the The Resistance Front while Jaish-e-Mohammad created Lashkar-e-Mustafa to carry out militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

Singh said that the major operations were carried out by the Anantnag police and Jammu police and busted the militant outfits by arrested there chief commanders.

He said that to sponsor militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir from across the border, the militant outfits operating in Pakistan have been trying to give new faces to militant outfits in J&K and from the last several months two new groups were floated by the name TRF and Lashkar-e-Mustafa.

He said that TRF is being run by Lashkar-e-Toiba while the militant outfit Lashkar-e-Mustafa is being run by Jaish-e-Mohammad from across to border to carry out militant activities not only in Jammu and Kashmir but in some other parts of the country including Delhi. “Lashkar-e-Mustafa came into being recently in August last year.”

Singh said that the chief commander of Lashkar-e-Mustafa, Hidayatullah Malik who was leading this outfit and was active from the last few months, was arrested by the police. He said that Hidayatullah was working as and OGW for a long time and later became active to carry out militant activities sponsored by Jaish-e-Mohammad.

He said this was a major success for the security forces and there has been major revelations by the Hidayatullah during interrogation.

As per KNO, he said that in another major success one more chief commander of another militant out TRF being run by Lashkar-e-Toiba, Zahoor Rather alias Sahil and Khalid was also arrested. Singh said that Zahoor was arrested during an operation on the intervening night of 12 and 13 February. “Zahoor was active for a long time and was a trained militant. He was leading TRF. He was also working as an OGW. In 2002 he was working with Hizbul Mujahideen,” he said.

Singh said that Zahoor remained active for 5 years and later surrendered in 2006 and he again became active in 2009 and in 2009 his handlers sitting in Pakistan knew his potential.

He said that Zahoor was handed over the responsibility of running TRF in Jammu and Kashmir and he was involved in killing 3 BJP leaders in Kulgam last year.

Singh said that intensive questioning of Zahoor Ahmad is going on and it is expected that some more breakthroughs will take place trough Zahoor. Singh while complementing the Jammu and Samba police said that a major tragedy was also averted today by arresting an associate of Al-Badr militant outfit and recovered IED from his possession.

“I congratulate the police officials who led this operation and arrested the Al-Badr associate to avert major tragedy in Jammu region,” he said.

Meanwhile, IGP Jammu range said that they have been on high alert for the last three days as there were inputs that on the anniversary of Pulwama attack militants groups may carry out some major attack in Jammu Bus stand.

He said that based on these inputs checking points were established at critical points and last night a person namely Suhail was found roaming suspiciously in the area.

“He was carrying a bag. One being questioned and checking of the bag around 6.5 KG IED was recovered which was not active. During questioning he said that he was a student if nursing college and was studying in Chandigarh. He was tasked by Al-Badr handlers in Pakistan to place this IED one of three places including Raghunath Mandir, Railway station and Jammu bus stand,” he said.

He said that on further questioning Sahil revealed that after placing the IED he was supposed to take a flight to Srinagar and he was to be received by a high ranking OGW of Al-Badr, Shakeel Khan at Srinagar.

“After meeting Shakeel Khan he was supposed to became an active militant. This was his planning. Another person in Chandigarh was also in the know-how of this planning.

He has also been picked up from Chandigarh and has been identified as Qazi Waseem and there is another person Abid Nabi associated with this outfit. He has also been arrested,” he said. IG said that by his arrest and by the recovery of this IED a major tragedy has been averted—(KNO)

Firing Case solved by police within an hour, Pistol recovered, man arrested

Jammu police Sunday said that an information was received at P/S Trikuta Nagar that some unknown person has fired few shots at around 11 PM in South Extension Trikuta Nagar causing panic in the whole locality. In this connection, case FIR no. 58/21 U/S 307 IPC, 3/25 A.Act was registered at P/S Bahu Fort Jammu.

Acting swiftly on the directions of Sh. Shridhar Patil IPS SSP Jammu, Police team led by Insp. Deepak Pathania SHO Bahu Fort under the supervision of Bikram Kumar JKPS SDPO City East and Deepak Digra JKPS SP City South Jammu rushed to the spot and inspected the spot very minutely.

One individual present on the spot namely Vishal Dhar (Editor Dhar News, Jammu) S/O Satish Dhar (Retired ADG Doordarshan Jammu) R/O Ruman House, Gurah Bakshi Nagar, Jammu tried to dodge Police by presenting false story before Police and concocted a story putting blame on some individuals.

Not satisfied with his version, Police team brought him to P/S and put him on sustained questioning during which he spilled the beans and admitted his guilt. He confessed that he had fired the shots from his licensed Pistol to kill/ threaten Chaman Kaith @ Rohan S/O Mohan Lal Kaith R/O South Ext. Trikuta Nagar as some dispute was going on between him and family of Chaman Kaith. He was immediately arrested and on his disclosure, weapon of offence (.32 bore pistol) alongwith 03 live rounds was recovered from the spot.

Chaman Kaith escaped unhurt. The whole case of firing was solved within 01 hours by Trikuta Nagar Police

Permanent Govt Employees can not take ration under PHH/AAY category: AD Food Bla

Assistant Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs,Baramulla, Sheikh Tariq (KAS) while taking to CNS told that No Government employee of the District will be allowed to take ration Under PHH ( BPL) and AAY Category as it is the right of those people who are living Below Poverty Line and not for government employees,those permanent employees who have not reported about their permanent govt job status to the concerned storekeeper/ supervisor can be booked for cheating( IPC 420) & other relevant sections of law and same will be communicated to their departments & accordingly legal action will be taken.

Sheikh Tariq, further told that all the Concerned TSO’s have been directed to stop the ration to all Permenent Government Employees in AAY/ PHH category & accordingly issue ration to them under NPHH category till re-verificattion process will be completed.

marks two years of the Pulwama militant attack when 40 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) lost their lives in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama after a suicide bomber rammed an IED-laden truck into a CRPF convoy.

The attack took place when a convoy of 78 busses with 2,500 CRPF personnel was heading to Srinagar from Jammu.

The attack further escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, which culminated in the Indian Air Force carrying out surgical strikes along the Line of Control.
February 14, 2019: An IED explosion occurred near Pulwama’s Awantipora at 3:15 pm. 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives, while many others were injured.

February 15, 2019: Ministry of External Affairs accused Pakistan for being behind the attack. Pakistan denied India’s allegations

February 19, 2019: India denied visas for Pakistani shooters who were to take part in the ISSF Shooting World Cup. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan announced that the Pakistani forces are ready to retaliate to any military action.

February 26, 2019: The Indian Air Force carried out surgical strikes across the border targeting Jaish-e-Mohammad camps in Pakistan.

In 2020, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a chargesheet in a special court in Jammu against 19 people including Masood Azhar, the chief of banned terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed, for planning the militant attack.

The 13,500-page chargesheet names Masood Azhar, his brothers — Abdul Rauf and Ammar Alvi — and his nephew Mohammed Umer Farooq, who had infiltrated into India in 2018 and was subsequently killed in one of the encounters in South Kashmir.

The chargesheet states that suicide bomber Adil Ahmed Dar was driving a vehicle laden with 200 kg of explosives. The explosive-laden vehicle was rammed into a bus carrying CRPF personnel at Lethpora in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on February 14, 2019.
